Idea and Concept

Being informed and knowing the facts is essential for us. Accurate, diverse information is the prerequisite for political and social debates and for citizens' decision-making. Public discussion – enabled, mediated, moderated, and fueled by journalism – is indispensable for a functioning democracy. At the same time, we need information to organize our lives and orient ourselves in society.

Traditionally, this information was provided by media that were known and whose credibility could be assessed. With the internet and social media, this has radically changed: the available information has become overwhelming, and its origin and credibility are often uncertain. What remains unchanged is our need to know what is (really) happening, what the facts are, and what is fake news.

Also for Schools

The exhibition aims to show young adults why journalism is important for forming their opinions and how media professionals work. They should receive the knowledge and tools to better navigate the jungle of information and misinformation.

Since the teaching of media literacy is one of the important goals of Curriculum 21, students in secondary levels I and II are a central target group of our project. A look at the curriculum shows that the exhibition promotes key competencies in an attractive, extracurricular learning environment where media literacy can be developed in a playful and participatory way.
