On the barrel organs, traditional folk songs, marches, opera arias, and timeless dances were played. Around 1900, the barrel organ helped the first hits and catchy melodies from well-known operettas gain great popularity, bringing music from concert halls to the streets for the people.

With the gramophone, sounds became reproducible, like Gutenberg's texts once were. Music could now be preserved and moved from concert halls into bourgeois living rooms. With the spread of the gramophone and radio, mechanical musical instruments, including the barrel organ, increasingly fell into oblivion.

Experience various barrel organs, performances, gingerbread decorating, and an exciting lecture.
