The Z3

The origin of all computers: The Z3 by Konrad Zuse (1910-1995). Developed during World War II, it was the first computer ever to perform arithmetic tasks electromechanically, store data, and perform initial programming.

But that's not all: Zuse used the binary number system, not the decimal system that was commonly used at the time.

The replica

The Swiss computer scientist Dr. Christof Traber has reconstructed the Z3 based on Zuse's patent from 1941. His replica is now located in the Enter Technikwelt and is probably the only fully functional and regularly publicly demonstrated Z3.
