The Z3

The origin of all computers: The Z3 by Konrad Zuse (1910-1995). Developed during World War II, it was the first computer ever to perform calculations electromechanically, store data, and execute initial programming.

But not only that: Zuse did not use the decimal system as was common at the time, but the binary number system.

The Replica

Swiss computer scientist Dr. Christof Traber has recreated the Z3 based on Zuse's 1941 patent. His replica is now on display at Enter Technikwelt and is currently the only fully functional and regularly publicly demonstrated Z3.
