The Z3

The origin of all computers: The Z3 by Konrad Zuse (1910-1995). Developed during World War II, it was the first computer ever to perform calculations electromechanically, store them, and execute initial programming.

But not only that: Unlike the decimal system commonly used at the time, Zuse used the binary number system.

The Replica

The Swiss computer scientist Dr. Christof Traber has rebuilt the Z3 based on Zuse's patent from 1941. His replica is now housed in the Enter Technikwelt and is currently probably the only fully functional and regularly publicly demonstrated Z3.
