The Z3

The origin of all computers: The Z3 by Konrad Zuse (1910-1995). Developed during the Second World War, it was the first computer to perform calculations electromechanically, store them and carry out initial programming.

But not only that: Zuse did not use the decimal system, which was common at the time, but the binary number system.

The Replica

Swiss computer scientist Dr. Christof Traber has rebuilt the Z3 based on Zuse's 1941 patent specification. His replica is now located in the Enter Technikwelt and is currently probably the only fully functional Z3 that is regularly demonstrated to the public.
